ORTHOTICS FOR NURSING & HEALTHCARE
Are orthotics worth it for nurses and healthcare workers?
Orthotics are designed to support your feet during long shifts, helping reduce fatigue, improve comfort and prevent common issues like heel pain, plantar fasciitis and lower back strain. For healthcare workers who spend hours on their feet, they can make a significant difference day to day.
Can orthotics help reduce foot pain and fatigue from long shifts?
Yes. Orthotics work by improving foot alignment and redistributing pressure, helping reduce strain on muscles, joints and ligaments. This can significantly reduce foot pain, leg fatigue and discomfort caused by standing and walking all day.
What is the difference between prescription orthotics and store-bought insoles?
Prescription orthotics are designed by podiatrists based on how your feet move and function. Unlike generic insoles, they are tailored to your specific needs to provide targeted support, improve movement and reduce strain.
How long do work orthotics last?
Most prescription orthotics last between 12–24 months depending on usage, footwear and daily load. Healthcare workers may wear them more frequently, so regular review is recommended to ensure they continue to provide optimal support.
What shoes can I wear orthotics in for work?
Orthotics are designed to fit most healthcare footwear including nursing shoes, sneakers and supportive work shoes. They are prescribed based on the type of shoes you wear during your shift.
Can I order orthotics online without visiting a clinic?
Yes. Our online assessment allows our podiatrists to assess your movement and prescribe orthotics without needing an in-person appointment. This makes it easy to access podiatrist-prescribed orthotics from home.
How do I order my orthotics online?
Complete a short online assessment, answer a few quick questions and upload a video of you walking. Our podiatrists assess your movement, foot structure and lifestyle before prescribing orthotics tailored to you. Your orthotics are then made and delivered directly to your door.

🎥 How to Record Your Walking Video
To get the perfect prescription, our podiatrists need to see how you walk. Don’t worry — it’s quick and easy! Watch the short video below for a simple guide on how to film your walking video at home.
1. Find a flat, clear space
A hallway, driveway or quiet footpath works well. Make sure the area is clear of obstacles.
2. Set up your phone/camera
Ask a friend or family member to film or place your phone on a stable surface about 3–4 metres away.
3. Walk naturally
Walk away from the camera for 5–6 steps, then turn and walk back towards it.
Repeat this 2–3 times at your normal walking pace.
4. Check your video
Make sure your feet and legs are clearly visible in the frame and the video isn’t shaky or blurry.
5. Upload with your assessment
Attach the video when completing your online assessment and you’re done!
